Clean & Care
Turquoise & Opal gemstone Jewelry
- Turquoise and Opal gemstones will always need to avoid water contact, they can easily absorb fluids and oils such as perfume, sunscreen and makeup. To protect them, we recommend that you put jewelry on after applying makeup, sunscreen and perfume, and never wear your jewelry in the shower, bath or swimming pool.
- To clean the Turquoise & Opal gemstones in your Jewelry, you will need a small bowl of warm water, a soft toothbrush, and a soft drying towel. Do not submerge your gemstone in the water. Simply wet the toothbrush in the warm water and gently scrub the stones. Do small sections at a time and dry with the soft cloth. Once completed, lay it out on a dry cloth and allow to completely dry before putting it away.
Gold Filled Jewelry
- After each wear, gently remove makeup and oils that can transfer from your skin to your jewelry. If you had an active day and perspired a lot, it’s especially important to clean off your jewelry. Clean your gold filled jewelry regularly using warm water to wash and a soft cloth to pat dry. Never rub it after washing as this can cause damage of gold in your piece.
- Be mindful that perfume, hairspray and hand lotions may tarnish your gold filled jewelry due to the harsh chemicals they contain. Be especially wary of sunscreen- it can cause severe, accelerated tarnishing on your pieces.
- Avoid leaving your jewelry dirty. If you’re not going to wear it for a while, make sure it’s clean and store well-cleaned jewelry in an airtight container.
- Avoid wearing your gold filled jewelry in the ocean or swimming pools, as the salt water and chlorine can cause damage.
Sterling Silver Jewelry
- Sterling silver does tarnish due to a natural chemical reaction that occurs when silver is exposed to air, and it will tarnish more readily during humid summer months, or when left sitting out in exposed air for long periods of time. Simply give it a quick rub with a polishing cloth included in your package will make it shine again.
